Hey everybody,
I've been having a lot of fun lately trying to find out how to play streaming windows media files in linux. I noticed it when I wanted to play an embedded steaming .ASX video file on MySpace and couldn't find anything to play it. Since we all know how much Bill Gates loves Linux, I noticed there's no plug-in available through firefox for windows media (figures). I had another piece of software that would allow me to just open a certain piece of software to play the video in whenever it found an embedded audio file . . . no luck there.
I've heard that Mplayer can handle these things, but I have Mplayer (came bundled with my SUSE install) but i haven't had any luck there. I've also heard that there's some horrible headache with finding the right version of a compiler to try and compile some plugin for Firefox.
Does anybody have any ideas? I haven't lost my hair yet, but I'm getting close to it
Thanks
Ryan
