I have a problem with my monitor frequencies. Im running SUSE 10.1 on a nv6600GT AGP, with driver already installed and configured. My monitor is a iiyama hm903dt (vision master pro 454), which was also correctly identified as hm903d/dt (the profile in sax2 for "D/DT" and just "DT" seem to be the same).
So the problem: I can choose resolutions, etc... , when I finish sax2 and run the test, it shows the proper resolution WITH THE PROPER FREQUENCY (85Hz!)! I hit save, it exits, and then tells me it needs to restart so changes take effect blah blah. But when I restart KDE, or the whole PC, it just shows something between 50-65 Hz as possible refresh rates. Then when I switch between them it does nothing... The lower the resolutions the higher refresh rates I get to choose from. But c'mon, I cant use 640x480!
You may wonder: YES, the monitor is detected correctly, also the vertical and horizontal frequencies for the monitor are correct. I have even found and corrected the display size (X,Y).
In WinXP I was used to somethin like 1280x1024 @70-75Hz... (acctually it showed 60, 70, 72, 75 to 85 Hz, if I remeber well...)
You could try going through the main menu - Control Center - YaST - Hardware - Graphics card and Monitor. It will still work though SaX, but via YaST. You may have better luck.
Another possibility is: after manually running SaX, run /sbin/SUSEconfig to update config files (it's the same thing YaST will do to finalize any changes).

Ive done this previously this way (through YaST), then I tried to look at xorgconf, now I tried it again but still no go.
Today I have set the monitors last "weak spot" to its correct highest available resolution, what is 1920x1440 @ 85hz. Previously this was set to 1600x1200 @ 85Hz, cause I dont like to push it to its limits, just in case...
This gave me only slightly higher refresh rates to choose from on the desktop, so now I can have 1280x1024 @ 72Hz instead of 1280x1024 @ 60Hz. When I switch it to 1920... it again tests itself at 85Hz, and then back on the desktop (after sax2 stored the conf and Ive restarted KDE) it showed only 50, 60, 63Hz to choose from.
It wouldnt bother me so much, if havent seen the monitor actually running at 85Hz during the test in sax2. And I know its not just some mistake in the numbers shown, cause u can see that the picture is sharper at 85Hz, and blinks at 60Hz...
Another thing I would like to ask: Is there a way to set the monitor not to switch to the highest resolution during the X startup? Cause it switches again to my desired res. when KDE kicks in, and I dont like all the switching very much.
Like it could be set to do 1920x..., but actually run max 1280x... during the WHOLE startup process.
I would be very grateful if you could somehow help with the refresh rates. I bought nvidia graphics ONLY to be able to use linux in a decent manner (you would not believe me what horrors done the ATI driver to my PC).
