upgrading to 10.1

I've got my laptop HD in 3 partitions controlled by a GRUB bootloader, the first with SUSE 10.0, the second with WinXP, and the third is NTFS for files. I hardly ever use SUSE 10.0 because I'm much more productive on WinXP where software installation is easier and the software I use best is available. However, I'd like to upgrade the SUSE 10.0 installation to 10.1 without disturbing the partition setup and keeping the bootloader working. Is this fairly easy with the 10.1 CDs, or are there special instructions I should be aware of?

Should be really easy to upgrade to 10.1.

The installer will offer you partition options. If you make sure to tell it to ONLY format/install on the Linux partition - that is what it will do. It will also find your winderz partitions and mount them automatically.

GRUB should be the same. You might need to check YAST to make sure that your default boot option is what you want. (I think it defaults to Linux - but you can change it.)

Also - be aware that NTFS filesystem isn't "fully" supported for writing to... You can do it - just be careful...

Other than that - enjoy your upgrade!
