Upgrading

Hi,

If a newer version of slack comes out,for example slackware 11,Do I have to download the whole iso's again and burn it into a cd again? If I have to,is there a way to install a newer version without having it to be burned on a cd?I know slack 11 will take a long time to come out,but I just want to know it.

kind regards
Deelk

I think Slackware current won't differ from Slackware 11 when it comes out. So you could upgrade to current and have 11 running. If there would be difference between current and 11, the directory Slackware 11 would be created in ftp.slackware.com so you could upgrade to it.

You need not to waste a CD medium.
First find your mirror repository with new Slackware release, download & read UPGRADE.TXT and follow the instructions.
New packages may be downloaded in a sepearate directory with whatever fetching tool you like (wget, rsync, wget called from slackpkg, ...) and after a successful upgrade it's safe to remove them.
