upgraded from 10.0 to 10.1, now my wlan is not working

I just finished upgrading from SUSE 10.0 to 10.1 and now my wireless network won't work. I had to use ndiswrapper in 10.0 and it worked great but now that I have updated, I cant connect to my wireless network. I tried using both knetworkmanager and ifup. When I use knetworkmanager, it will go until it gets to 28% when it is configuring network device (I think thats what it says), and after a few minutes it says that it is disconnected. When I try ifup/ifstatus I get that it sees my network card, but I get an error that it is missing the configuation files, and I do not remember how I created those (or even if I created them when I set it up the first time).

I have finals next week, and I need my computer to work ASAP. So I am hoping that someone can help me with a quick fix.

Thanks

-Stew

There is no quick fix. The issue you are facing is one of version compatibility. For instance the newest version of ndiswrapper will not work with Linksys WUSB54G and SuSe 10.1, but downgrading the NDISWRAPPER will get it working. Strange I know, but you will have to experiment. If you get a successful driver install and module insert, then you need to set up the wireless card via YaST. Yast will write the configs for you.

BTW- If you are not going to read the howto's, then I am not going to put much time into your problem either.

I didnt mean that I an not going to read how tos, I just dont have time to sort through them all and figure out what I need to do. I wish I had waited to upgrade, but I thought it would be like when I went from 9.3 to 10.0 and everything worked flawlessly. Can you give me a link to a good how to that tells me everything I need to do?

Here you go: http://nextgen.no-ip.org/~andrew/lin...fo10-32bit.php

Good Luck

BTW- Since you are new to SuSE 10.1 and probably don't know all the problems package management is having. I would suggest that you install SMART package manager. Probably something for you to do when finals are over.
