Updating Google and importing bookmarks?

Hello, I just installed SUSE open, working great now with forum help!

I have two hard drives, one is windows XP home, the other is the new SUSE open installation.
Question: 1. How do I update to the latest version of Firefox?
2. How do I transfer my bookmarks from Windows to the SUSE Firefox?

Please speak plainly with specific directions if possible, I am NOT computer literate, but I am trying.

What version is Firefox now?
I'm not Suse literate, so I will leave that for others (usually the "package management" application will keep the versions up to date.
But... if you have a Google account, I found that Google browser sync- http://www.google.com/tools/firefox/browsersync/ is very handy- it moves bookmarks, cookies and stored passwords between computers easily. (I don't leave it running, I just run it once to transfer, then disable it).

The latest version of Firefox for openSUSE is 2.0.0.5 and is available in the update repositories, which means that if you have allowed opensuseupdater or zen-updater to update the system, it's already installed. To check your firefox version open software management in YaST (Administrator settings in the lizard menu), select the search filter on the left and enter firefox in the text box.

Do I have a Firefox account? What do you mean, please explain?
I have the browser.

In the tool bars at the top of the screen, under "Help" it gives this.

Mozilla/5.0(X11;U;Linux;686;(x86_64);en-US;1.8.1 Gecko/20061023, SUSE/2.0-30

Following the instruction for getting the version (above) I get nothing!

On hard drive #1 where Windows is installed, the network connection is gone.

Question: How can I get the bookmarks installed on hard drive #2 the SUSE drive.

You could try, from SuSE, mounting the windows partition. Then copy the firefox bookmarks.htm file to your users /home/<username>/.mozilla/firefox/<random string>.default/bookmarks.html

Note that in windows, bookmarks may have an .htm extension, whereas in Linux it should be .html.

I use Mepis & Sidux but I've migrated from windows to Linux using the same route...it should work for you too.
When I setup a fresh install I transfer these 4 files into the new install...works for firefox and for iceweasel.
Make sure that firefox/iceweasel are closed. If they are open, after the copying, the files will be overwritten.
Copy bookmarks.html cookies.txt key3.db and signons.txt from your most used version of firefox/iceweasel (I usually copy the 4 files onto a floppy). Then copy them up onto the new install. Like magic (hee..hee) the new install acts just like the old. Bookmark panel is the same, login names and passwords appear automatically, and surfing is just like using the version you copied from.
I've done this many times, from XP to Linux, from one version of Linux to another, from Firefox to Iceweasel etc. When I originally researched this, bookmarks.html was the only file I saw that was recommended for transfer. Just copying this file only brought me to the bookmarked website. I wanted to go to the website and have the password and cookie info already working, so I didn't have to re-enter my info all over again. When I decided to do my own investigation, these were the 4 files I found that could be transferred.
Just to be careful...rename the origional files before copying (ex. bookmarks.html to bookmarks.html.old) on the new install, just in case. But I've never had a problem.

Hope this helps
Tom

I really appreciate the return, but I just got so sick of MS, I deleted the entire hard drive and am willing to take my losses!!!!!!!!

I now have SUSE open installed with a few problems but nothing like dealing with windows, I was a complete "FOOL" for waiting so long to convert.
