Unable to modify monitor resolution

I have Windows XP Pro and SuSe Linux 10.1 installed on the same hard disk drive (D0). As I was experiencing problems with Windows XP Pro, I had the HD reformatted and SuSe Linux 10.1 reinstalled first and then Windows XP Pro.

However, when SuSe Linux was reinstalled the computer was connected to another monitor brand at the technician's repair shop. When I connected again the computer to the KDS monitor at home, the following message appears when I try to boot SuSe Linux 10.1:

79.7 Khz / 74.8 Hz
Frequency out of range
Try other resolutions

Windows can not read SuSe Linux file system, but I do have a Knoppix 3.9 CD. As I am unexperienced Linux user I do not know to navigate through the Local Disk (C:\) to find the YaST config file and to edit it.

Is there any way of correcting this problem?

Might try booting the knoppix and mounting the partition and editing the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file and manually set the monitor settings. Could also boot up and try the <Ctrl><Alt>+ and - combo to select a different resolution (although i am not sure if that works in suse, its been a while)
