Unhappy SuSE 9.2 install fails to detect DVD-RAM

Hi,

Just did an ftp install of SuSE 9.2. Appeared to go smoothly, but I seem to have lost my DVD-RAM drive. It was working fine under 9.1 the day before, so am really not sure what's gone wrong. It still works under windoze.

The drive is a Panasonic LF-521 DVD-RAM multiburner, connected to the IDE
channel. The motherboard is a ABit VIA KT600, AthlonXP 3000+, 1Gb DDR-RAM.
The drive doesn't appear under YAST - so not sure what to try...?

Any suggestions?

Cheers, Jon.

Question

Weird - switching the drive to being a slave fixed this problem! Also the machine boots much faster now.
