hey guys. i want to install 9.2 pro. i was able to download(btorrent) all 5 cd isos, but was wondering if there is a set of 5 cds for 64-bit and a seperate set for 32-bit? i want to install 64 bit, but can't seem to find the dvd iso anywhere. I just figured that the cds probably have an option when u first enter installation on whether or not u want 64 or 32. 'do you concure?'
I just checked my FTP-DVD.ISO. It has both 32bit and 64bit versions on it. The installer will detect the 64bit processor automatically and offer you to choose between 32 and 64bit. In SuSE's <9.2, the two versions have been distributed separately, but now they are merged.
i wana know if the 5 cd isos that i got are for 32bit, 64bit, or both. I'm hoping they are both since i didn't notice it specifing which one it was. I guess i really don't have to ask, i should just try to install, and if i find the option of choosing i'll post here to let everyone else know...
ok, i formatted my computer yesterday, reinstalled xp, and then when i rebooted with suse cd1, a message popped up and said "cool computer, but...you are about to install a 32bit version on a 64bit machine". this is not really that big of a deal. now, is that suse pro ftp dvd the real dvd? i do NOT want an eval version. I want the real thing. Last time i went and paid the 80 from best buy. it was a rushed decision. also, i keep finding a 7gig dvd iso. it says it's the 32 plus 64 bit version, but what dvd is 7 gigs large? would i need a dual layer?
The FTP-DVD is 3.2 GB and misses a lot of software that needs to be installed from the FTP server. But it is a nice base to set up a system. It is called also EVAL version, but that doesn't mean it will expire. I think the original (boxed) version comes with a double layer DVD and 7 GB.
