Click on 'KMenu', Control Center, Login manager. Several options there. Need to do as root.

Talking from OPensuse

i've same problem this helped me,

Restore kdm login
From openSUSE

Restoring KDM login screen, when lost

After installing SuSE 9.3 Pro, you might find that your login manager changes from the nice green KDM login to a grey login (xdm) with a status box bottom left. You log in and you find you are in a very basic window manager. This is due (I believe) to a Yast bug and happened to me after installing the nVidia driver.

Solution: (adapted from Suse portal support database):

Proceed as follows to change the login manager:

1. Start YaST2 (enter command: yast2 in the console box.

2. Go to "System" -> "/etc/sysconfig Editor".

3. Open "Desktop" -> "Display manager" -> "DISPLAYMANAGER" and change the entry to the desired login manager (type: kdm).

4. Click "Finish".

Same can be done by commandline (su to root):

pico /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager

i hope this help you too!
