SUSE 10.0 fix to stop error message when exiting X
Another really minor niggle butr when exiting X you sometimes get a message about artsshell not found etc etc.
You can get rid of this message by editing file /USR/X11R6/BIN/KDE
Comment out thie line marked.
fi
# wait if there's any crashhandler shown
while dcop | grep -q ^drkonqi- ; do
sleep 5
done
echo 'startkde: Shutting down...' 1>&2
# Clean up
kdeinit_shutdown
dcopserver_shutdown --wait
#artsshell -q terminate <===comment this line out====>
echo 'startkde: Running shutdown scripts...' 1>&2
# Run scripts found in $KDEDIRS/shutdown
for prefix in `echo "$exepath" | sed -n -e 's,/bin[^/]*/,/shutdown/,p'`; do
for file in `ls "$prefix" 2> /dev/null | egrep -v '(~|\.bak)$'`; do
test -x "$prefix$file" && "$prefix$file"
done
done
Hope this helps some people. I like to have a system working without issuing spurious messages even if they don't do any harm.
Don't make this mod if you don't get the message when you leave X.
Cheers
