What browser are you using? Shockwave will be a plugin for your browser.

http://www.real.com/player/
Please also stick your distro and rough location in you "user CP" (use the link at the top of this page)
Shockwave (by Macromedia) is not available for Linux. But see also MPlayer.
There are tons of books - try amazon.com or your local book store. Take care to choose one that is up to date. You'll need a "beginners" type one and one more advanced. There are also many many tutorials on the web.

I just installed the plugin from the site and it works automatically.
By "shockwave", what exactly do you mean?
For instance, realplayer allows you to view streaming video only in some formats. So which "shockwave stuff" are you talking about?

Problem with that alternation link is that I wasn't talking about Flash I was talking about shockwave. Flash works perfect on here just can't get a plugin for shockwave
earlier you said u got the plugin to work for you. So how did you get Shockwave to work? or do you mean you got Flash to work? What browser you using?

Sorry, you're right I was thinking about flash - you cannot get a linux plugin for shockwave.
The first link gives you the complete list of macromedia plugins and supported OS's. The second is a petition to get shockwave for linux.
How about this:
http://internet.newsforge.com/articl...&tid=13&tid=31
(from last year - a shockwave plugin is in the pipeline then ... add you voice.)
If you absolutely must have shockwave then crossover office is for you:
