So I wanted to watch a realplayer movie online so I followed the instructions for installing realplayer from real. So I did it and now I get the title's message. I probably shouldn't have, but I install real in a subdirectory of my home directory. What should I do?
I wanted to listen to AirAmericaRadio.com and clicked the listen now button. It gave me two choices. I picked windows media to see if the d/l from packman made it work... I don't know if it would have eventually or not... it took long enough for me to give up. Nothing should take that long as this machine is a AMD 64-bit based and while it isn't the smokingest... it is kinda smokey at least.
So I think chose realplayer and I got the error message above.
Before I had tried to listen to real stuff and it said to install the realplayer. I did, in my home directory. Should I have done it somewhere else? Can I gui the real path into the system path? I'm allergic to the console.
You can add your local realplayer path to the PATH variable by editing /etc/profile.local. You can do this from a GUI, but you need to edit this file "by hand". You can use konqueror in system administration mode and use kwrite to edit the file. Add a single line to the end of the file:
