Printer problem...again

Usually, when I install SuSE I pick the CX3200 PPD for my CX4600, and it prints everything perfectly fine. Now, it won't print black text at all. I've tried both the PIPS CX4600 driver and the CX3200 driver. Both will print text in any color except black, and both print images that have black in them, but standalone black text does not get printed.

Everything worked fine in my previous installation.

BTW, I installed the gutenprint package and ignored a few dependencies. The printer recognizes the gutenprint driver, but when I try to print, nothing happens.

I'm using 10.1 and can't find gutenprint print for it. It's in the 10.2 release. My Epson C86 works fine off USB but I prefer it off parallel. escputil doesn't work off usb, as far as I can tell.

I am no printing expert but here here's my story.

I have an Epson CX7800 and it needs the Gutenprint 5.0 driver to work. The CX7800 is a printer/scanner/copier and everything works, perfectly as I can tell, using this driver. I see that Gutenprint 5.0 also supports the CX4600, I don't know which version of Gutenprint you installed.

Gutenprint 5.0 is included in openSuse 10.2, Gimp-print 4.7 (I believe) was included in Suse 10.1, don't know about Suse 10.0.

I was using Suse 10.1 for a short while and tried to find a rpm to install Gutenprint 5.0 but was not successful, never could get it to work. I just did a quick Google and found this page that says that they have an openSuse rpm package for Gutenprint 5.0. I would suggest trying to reload the rpm.
