Question Playing NTFS Music

Is it possible for me, under SuSE 10 to play music from my windows hard drive? I opened the windows drive and can view all files and folders. I see all my music but when i try to play it it opens it in the media player (does the same for all media players) and then "plays" for about half a second but no sound comes through. I also tried copying a music file to the linux drive and then playing. Same scenario. Please help.

if you can see the files, then you can play them, sounds more like problems with your media player. copy a file form ntfs to your local home drive and try that. if you still can't play it, try using a console based player like mplayer and see if thereare any useful errors if that still doesn't work.

I found that i dont have the codec for .mp3 files. I tried downloading a codec and installed it with no problems, however the media players are giving the same error. Is there any specific place i should get the codec from? And, once i install the codec will it automatically apply to all the media players, or will i have to configure the media player to the codec?

well, once i got YOU to work it updated and now amaroK works with xine engine. However, the other media players dont work, but as long as this one works i'm somewhat satisfied.
