I read through the installation instructions on this first page for Open Suse and it says that Secure boot on UEFI machines is supported.

I think so:-
Secure boot is an extension of UEFI.
If your pc can run in legacy mode (the old BIOS mode) or EFI mode and in a hybrid mode that you have a UEFI machine.

If your machine boots into Open Suse w/o any problems I would leave things set as they are:-
