Novell Linux Desktop and USB

I have an IBM ThinkPad i Series 1400/1500, Type 2621-560. I'm running NLD on it but I cannot get the USB to work. My kernal version is: 2.6.5-7.155.29.

When I connect a USB device (mouse, sandisk Cruzer micro, Card Reader) the system begans to switch screens back and forth between the GUI and text mode tty1 and then the system locks up and I have to turn the power off to restart the system.

I think it acts like there is a conflict between the USB and video.

Any help is much appreciated.

Carl
