I have a C-Media PCI sound card. I am running SuSe 10.1.
SuSe detects my card just fine, and i can play a few songs(i don't have any plugg-ins yet). The problem is i don't get any bass. I get four channels, but not the six channels i should be getting(center, and subwoffer). What is wrong? Please give some details, i am a newb to linux.
Well, the thing is, in volume control, it only shows four channels. I can not turn on the fifth and sixth cannels.
Music does not have six channels. But with 5.1 surround sound, there is 5.1 emulation. This means that is splitts the stereo audio evenly among the speakers, and it also sends ALL of the bass to the sub woofer. The emulation is usually is hardware based. But the channels can be turned off by software. This is what i need to know how to do. How do i turn it on? Like i said before, it doesn't showup in KMix or ALSAMixer. I claims that i have 4.0 surround, instead of 5.1, which i really have.
