minimize problem


i installed suse 10.0 succesfully. The only problem im having is with minimizing. When i minimize a program is just dissapears off the screen. It doesnt close it because i can press alt+tab to bring it up. but i would like for it to minimize to the tray like its supposed to. any help would be much appreciated

What desktop environment or window manager are you using?

Are you running two panels - one at the top and one at the bottom of the screen? Can't remember what Suse does by default, but normally a default Gnome setup has the main panel with the menus on it, and another panel with the tray, pager and taskbar applets on it. If you only have the menu bar, you can add a taskbar applet to it and that will show you running windows - whether minimized or not.
