hello all,

i have a system with the following configuration,:

Processor : P III 800 MHz
Mother Board : Intel 810e
RAM : 192 MB (128 + 64)
HDD : 20 GB (its a dual boot system, i ve set aside 7 gb for
Linux)
CD rom : Samsung 52x
CD writer : Samsung
Monitor : Samtron 55v

i did some research and found out tat my system spports SuSE 9.3,

i try to install it, i get the nitial splash screen, and i choose installation,
then it loads yast ...
detects the terminal as 80 X 25 console.... so far so good!

the next Yast screen doesnt appear, monitor starts flickering and i dunno what to do, so i just switch off my comp and curse!

please help on this! and make it asap!

thanks in advance

very frustrated!

fwiw I have an old Tecra laptop (Plll-700/196Mb RAM) running 10.1 quite happily w KDE, so your machine shouldn't restrict the version you choose.

sounds like hardware mis-detection or even hardware problem - you mention a multi-boot set-up - if you have another OS already installed I assume that runs ok? if so, use it to check how it identifies the h/w

as with any OS, later versions are more likely to have later (better?) device drivers but a Plll should be old enough for 9.3 to have the proper stuff

only other (obvious) suggestions w/out > info are try a later version of Suse (detection has got better with later releases) or try installing a different video adapter (with a commonly used chipset) & see if that will play
