How to play video files

I have installed SuSe Linux 10.1 along with Windows XP Pro SP2. While generally SuSe is very good, its performance in multimedia is very poor. Only AmaroK plays audio files. No other player can play any video/audio files.I downloaded codecs from Packman but they just cannot be installed due to dependency problems.Wine also cannot open any player from Windows. Any solution.

Hi,
first you have to remove all packages you installed with YAST( xine, kaffeine, w32-all codec pack, then install packman repository and download packman packages. Then go and install libdvdcss from the url (google a bit) and that is all. You can find a lot of threads here on this forum too. Just go and search.
Hope it helps.

Eh.. you don't have to do anything.

Ok.. Do this:

Add the Packman Repository. Do a search for w32 (install w32codecs), then search for libxine and install it (this will resolve dependencies for you).

http://linux.softpedia.com/get/Progr...dcss-165.shtml < Download libdvdcss

Install via whatever way you want (zen, yast, command-line).
