how to configure local printer for all users

i have just added a USB loacl printer to my box (cannon S400) and configured it...

whern i then logged in as a differnt user it said that it had found a new printer and did i want to configure it?

how do i make the origianal config apply to all users so taht they can all use the printer (preferably so taht if i add a new user it is allready configured!)

thanks for any help

I may be mistaken but the configuration they're talking about may be details like dots per inch and perhaps not things like driver. There are only two users on my box, me and root. If you look at permissions for /dev/usb/lp0 you will find the printer owner is root but members of group lp have access. I can't remember printing as root but it always prints for "me". I'd say yes to new printer found and see where it takes you. I'd think it won't change ownership and give access to all users of group lp. I've had my system occasionaly recognize a "new" device which has been there. I don't know why but, when I say yes I can't decern that any changes have been to the configuration.
