How do I display error logs.

I am trying to work with the folks at Bugzilla on a problem I am having with Banshee. They need to see an error log. I have cut and pasted the command line from their web site into terminal. It is supposed to generate a log file and put it on my desktop. For whatever reason that didn't work. I am running 11.4 with KDE. Can anybody tell where the error log file is stored or how to access it?

thanks,

Chris

Hi,

Okay, you have three options:

- run the program from the console, anything it logs, goes to the console
- let the thing run, find the log (/var/log is one place, some software puts it elsewhere, it depends)
- use strace to run the program and capture the log in a file

Hope you find (and squash) the bug

Thor

Perhaps you can post the command you are using?

Kind regards
