well what does /etc/netconfig do? maybe you want /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ directory under redhat based systems.

From Google search it does appear it may be available in later releases of Suse Linux.

The link here has various rpms for it a package called sysconfig that appears to be the one that contains /etc/netconfig for OpenSuse:
http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3?stat...nfig&srodzaj=3

I don't see it at all for RedHat.

Also even though it exists on HP-UX I've never had to modify this file.

What exactly are you trying to accomplish with /etc/netconfig? Perhaps there is another way to do it in Linux.

thanks for your replies.

I am using XTI/TLI library of OpenSS7 on SuSe 10 in my C-application. These TLI libraries uses nebuf/netconfig/netpath structures which are returned by getnetpath/setnetpath etc functions. these functions uses /etc/netconfig file to access network selection database.

thanks once again

I have created /etc/netconfig file myself as
Code:
ticlts tpi_clts v loopback - /dev/ticlts /usr/lib/straddr.so
ticots tpi_cots v loopback - /dev/ticots /usr/lib/straddr.so
ticotsord tpi_cots_ord v loopback - /dev/ticotsord /usr/lib/straddr.so
udp tpi_clts v,b inet udp /dev/udp /usr/lib64/resolv.so
tcp tpi_cots_ord v inet tcp /dev/tcp /usr/lib64/resolv.so
rawip tpi_raw - inet - /dev/rawip -

But the problem is, on Linux, i could not find libraries for Name to Address translation. 'ticots' should be the transport used. where can i find them? which pkgs includes these libraries on SuSE 10 x86_64

thanks, Sun

These links may help. Do you have Linux fast-streams (lfs) support in your kernel? Do you have the /dev/tricots device?

http://www.openss7.org/strinet_manual.html

http://www.openss7.org/documentation.html

I imagine that some of the config files you are looking for should have been installed when building openss7.

After installing strinet/strxnet/strxns etc, do we need to rebuild kernel? because these pkgs includes some kernel modules(.ko files) also.

If so, how to rebuild kernel for SuSe 10 x86_64 2.6.16.46-0.12-smp

Thanks in advance,

-Sun
