You can do it through YaST, or you can use Samba Swat.
Swat is a web based interface. Enable the swat service in YaST2 -> Network Services -> Network Services (xinetd).
The double check that you have the file /etc/xinetd.d/swat
Code:
# SWAT is the Samba Web Administration Tool.
service swat
{
socket_type = stream
protocol = tcp
wait = no
user = root
server = /usr/sbin/swat
only_from = 127.0.0.1
log_on_failure += USERID
}
Now point your web browser to
http://localhost:901
There is a samba-doc package that has 3 books on Samba 3. These are the same books (in pdf form) that are available in the book store. One of them "Samba3-ByExample.pdf" if very good. You can base your configuration on one of the sample configurations.
Quote:
rpm -ql samba-doc | grep pdf
/usr/share/doc/packages/samba/Samba3-ByExample.pdf
/usr/share/doc/packages/samba/Samba3-Developers-Guide.pdf
/usr/share/doc/packages/samba/Samba3-HOWTO.pdf

Also, the SuSE reference guide has a chapter on networking.
