blank screen after installation

There have been quite a few people with this problem.

Most seemed to have solved it by using run level 3 to log in and then using sax2.

my problem is that I can't get that far. I log in as run level 3, logon as root and then the screen goes blank. I can't get to a prompt to use sax2.

I'm installing suse 10.0 which has worked on this machine b4. I'm getting very frustrated. Any ideas?

Try pressing Ctrl+Alt+F5 or Ctrl+Alt+F6 when u see the blank screen. It will take you to the console login (text).

Ctrl+Alt-F5 should absolutely bring you to a prompt... unless the issue stems further...

It may also be worth trying a different graphics card if you have one. I had a few issues with older Matrox cards.
