Suse installation, blank screen

I'm trying to install Suse 10.0 on a pc with an old Dell lcd screen. First it writes loading syslinux (or something like that), and then when it is supposed to display the graphic installer the screen goes black and says "Cannot display this video mode".
Is there any way that i can pass some parameter to the installer telling it to use some video mode that the screen can display?

thanks in advance,

Try looking here.
This is a very good explanation of how to modify the video modes at boot prompt. The post originally was regarding a PPC based install, but should be accurate regardless of hardware platform.

or, you could do a purely text install, I believe by typing in "text" at the boot prompt.
