Almost Success BUT Mouse Wheel Problem :(

Finally after many many hours of downloading disotros, installing and learning, I have a nice stable Suse 9.2 AMD64 system.

However the mouse wheel does not scroll pages but opens up a menu - kind of like a right click.

I have checked the xorg.conf but there is a Suse note that says not to edit directly - presumably in Yast should make these changes for me - however there are limited options in Yast for mouse settings - only really to select a driver.

I have a Logitech Optical Mouse and I am using the "Intelli/wheel" mouse driver.

backup your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file then open ut up and look for the mouse section in "input devices" look for a line that says somthing like....

Code:
    Identifier "Mouse1"
    Driver "mouse"
    Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
for whell mice i think the driver has to be IMPS/2. if it isnt, change the driver.
then under the driver line, add these 2 lines

Code:
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
then logout, and restart the X server b hitting ctrl+alt+<backspace>

does it work now ?
if not, replace the config file with the backup, and no harm is done.
