no SuSE is eaither 32-bit or 64-bit. Based on some links you provided, I would suspect that you are using 32-bit version (run uname -a).

It does not really matter how he will install necessary software, fact is tha he is unable to do it. Unfortunately help provided is not good enough.

I went here and it only mentions suse 9.3 http://www.susewiki.org/index.php?ti...ith_Red_Carpet

Will this method work for suse 64 bit on AMD Athlon64 3000?

I am running SUSE 10.0 on my comp ( ATHLON 2800+, ASUS K8N-E Deluxe mobo) which is 64bit OS. This is my 10th version of SUSE since SUSE 9.1. I must say I am a noob regarding SUSE. I have been installing and removing it 1001 times since I started Linux this year. And one thing is clear I did not install or force to install any package with unresolved dependencies.
I am using apt to install, to update and also to upgrade my system. I found the following link:

http://www.susewiki.org/index.php?ti...tall-apt4suse, which I followed to the point. I installed with apt-get install synaptic and that is all I am using besides YAST to update/upgrade.

Of course you have to install into YAST software management installation sources at least this repositories:

http: //packman.iu-bremen.de /suse/10.0
http: //ftp.gwdg.de /pub/linux/misc/suser-guru/rpm/10.0
ftp: //mirrors.kernel.org /opensuse/distribution/SL-10.0-OSS/inst-source-java
ftp: //mirrors.kernel.org /opensuse/distribution/SL-10.0-OSS/inst-source
ftp: //mirrors.kernel.org /suse/i386/10.0/SUSE-Linux 10.0-GM-Extra

This are the sources which I have installed into my YAST "change installation source".

As for DVD, you definitely should remove YAST packages and then use apt-get install (package name). But as I said you must stick to the installation instructions as they are described in apt4suse link.

I hope it can help. I have no problems with my system at all.

Regards

I was refering to the riba43's post.

I am sorry, this is easy to setup, but my explanations are not clear enough for you, so I am unable to help.

Riba I have not tried your way yet and was trying brochs and made some lee-way, Kaffeine now shows the ttile of the movie, but does not play DVD. I put in an MPEG CD and Kaffeine now plays it. whereas before it did not, so I am getting closer.

you need:
libdvdcss
search rpmfind

from packman you also need:
for a): w32codec-all-20050412-0.pm.0.i586.rpm (Win32-Codecs)
for a): speex-1.1.10-0.pm.0.i586.rpm (speex)
for f): libfame-0.9.1-0.pm.3.i586.rpm (libfame)
for i): libstk-0.2cvs20050823-0.pm.0.i586.rpm (libstk)

you have 64-bit OS, take advantage of it: whenever possible (and convenient) install 64-bit software.

Broch here is where I stand I went here as you've stated - http://packman.links2linux.org/index...ction=124&vn=3

and from here 3 would not take. I tried installing one by one instead off all at a time and that help with all but 3.

Of all those there these 3 packages would not install:
1) libxine1-directfb-1.1.0-12.pm.1.x86_64.rpm ( +a)
2) libxine1-stk-1.1.0-12.pm.1.x86_64.rpm ( +a)
3) : libstk-0.2cvs20050823-0.pm.0.x86_64.rpm (libstk)

Just got some sort of dependency issues with lib or arts, I do not recall specifically what they were.

I did install the "libdvdcss" package, but did so way early in the ball game before I did all of these, so I do not know if that matters or not.

I could not find this package w32codec-all-20050412-0.pm.0.i586.rpm (Win32-Codecs) but will look for it.

When I try and play DVD on Kaffeine it shows the title of movie and goes to play because screen turns green, then it stops and mentions plugins. When I go to plug-in it shows 3 audio decoder errors unknown buffer types , 1060000, 4000000, 2000000?

That is where I stand, but I can play MPEG files of CD whereas before it would not, so I am getting closer.

I found this post below posted a month ago, could this be my problem Broch?

d-1

Does anybody know how to install 64 bit version of xine, totem, amarok, and kaffeine?
I am having a problem installing 64 bit version programs for SuSE 10.0
I've got mplayer working, but I couldn't get xine to work. I downloaded 64 version from http://cambuca.ldhs.cetuc.puc-rio.br...x86_64-suse91/ and followed instruction in readme.txt. But it didn't work.
In order to get xine working, I had to install 32 version from http://cambuca.ldhs.cetuc.puc-rio.br/xine/, followed instruction and it worked.
Now problem is i can't install totem, kaffeine, or amarok. Whenever I tried to install it, yast said i needed libxine.so.1()(64bit). When I choose to upgrade xine-lib to 64 version, xine stops working.
How do i resolve this? Please help me with this. Thanks.

That did it Broch, I am up and going and watching a movie as I type, great picture and sound.....the key was to download the newer

libdvdcss2-1.2.8-0.pm.2.x86_64.rpm and this one libdvdcss2-devel-1.2.8-0.pm.2.x86_64.rpm , I had an older version of libdvdcss and discovered it by looking at installed packages inside yast. I appreciate your help and could not have done it with out you.

Thanks for putting up with me, I always have to push myself to make it work. I appreciate your patience and kindness.

If anyone needs a walkthrough please let me know......

Running Suse 10.0 64 bit on AMD Athlon 3000 64 bit........
