xhost: not found

I'm trying to use VNCSERVER on my V480 with Solaris 8. in the log that gets created after you start vncserver, i get a:

xhost: unable to open display "myhostname:1"

Other threads have suggested running the xhost + command. When I try to do that I get:

xhost: not found

ehat could be my problem?

This is a permissions problem in the "/tmp" directory. You can get around this in one of 2 ways. Either set the "vncserver" script to setuid root or change the permissions on the "/tmp/.X11-unix" directory to allow your uid to write to it. I think you may also have to change the "/tmp/.X11-pipe" directory as well.
