Thanks for the reply jlliagre. After I posted last I decided to try again using this code:

pfexec pkg set-publisher --non-sticky opensolaris.org
      pfexec pkg set-publisher -P -O http://pkg.openindiana.org/dev openindiana.org
      pfexec pkg image-update -v

A half a gig d/l later and a very long boot up and I am posting this from a Vbox vm on Ubuntu 10.04.

@hughetorrance While I was updateing the VM on my laptop I d/l the .usb file to my desktop. I am going to install it to my flash drive, soon as I can find it that is.
