Current status of Centrino drivers in 2.6

Hi All,

I'm about to get a new laptop and it looks likely I'll end up with an Intel Centrino wlan interface (sorry I don't know the chipset type). I've googled a bit but I'm not clear on a couple of points. So, my question is:

What's the current state of Centrino drivers in the kernel? Are there any merged in 2.6? Most importanly though, if there are any at all, are they opensource?

Cheers,
Versa

The Centrino drivers are the ipw2100 and ipw2200 drivers. They are both open source and are now in the kernel (as of 2.6.15.4 at least). For the source forge project page for ipw2100 go here: http://ipw2100.sourceforge.net/ There are links for related projects there. I'm using the ipw2100 at the moment and have never had problems... Oh you will need to get the firmware from the source forge site and put it in /lib/firmware or wherever your distro wants it.

Cheers,
-geo
