Setting default paper size for printing?

Apparently the default papersize code that Solaris is sending out is "A4", but since I live in the USA, we don't have A4 paper... We have 8.5"x11"/"letter" paper.

How does one go about setting that size in Solaris? One of few remaining major annoyances I have with my Solaris seutp is having to walk over to the printer and hit the "go/start" button twice everytime I print (to acknowledge the error, then override the A4 and let it print on the letter paper).

If you are printing from StarOffice, there is a GUI to tell what paper size is supported by the printer.

From Firefox or Thunderbird, you tell what paper size you want.

How does one get them to save that info? I know how to set the paper size in the various GUIs, but I have to do it each time I start each app as it keeps defaulting back to A4. I then forget to change them when I print... The apps I use are Evolution & Mozilla.

No idea about Evolution but your browser settings should be recorded in the mozilla preferences (about:config). Have a look at all those containing print_paper in their names.
