Yes, my Epson is now recognized, the package foomatic-rip was missing, but the specific driver is missing in the proposed Epson list models, I installed the 'Generic' one by default, it prints only E and G at the beginning of the line, for a text or fot the test page.
I wonder if I can add the Linux driver, and where to place it, in which file...
If it uses a generic to UNIX driver, then it should work. Usually gutenprint and CUPS cover this. If it's any driver that can use the standard printing systems like cups, lpr, etc. it should work.
I would search www.openprinting.org and see what your model has available in the database.
