Not buying Sun Studio. gcc? cc?

I just installed Solaris 10 for SPARC. There's no compiler. Am I missing something?

I'm definitely not buying Sun Studio. So I figure I'll get gcc. But how do I build it without an existing compiler/linker/assembler?

I just want to build an Apache module. Suggestions? Thanks.

There's an optional companion CD with GNU C/C++ compilers and some other tools we need. Download the following CD image as well from Sun's web site and install the tools you need:
Solaris 10 Companion CD, Multi-language (sol-10-ccd-GA-sparc-iso.zip, 428.60 MB)

Simply mount the CD image on Solaris file system with "lofiadm" utility of Solaris and then run installer. Detailed instructions are here: http://technopark02.blogspot.com/200...-image-on.html

You can also download what you need from sunfreeware and then use pkgadd to install it.
