Can you point to the linux test scripts ?
What are they stressing exactly, physical or virtual memory ?
and how ?
with what purpose ?

Wish I remembered the link...but I do remember that it required some linux kernel.

Just physical memory

I am pretty much looking for an equivalent to memtest86 for solaris.

memtest86 is not a Linux program, it doesn't need nor use any operating system, so it can be used before launching Solaris as well as Linux, or any other O/S. You may want to use memtest+, as it seems to support modern H/W better.

If you are looking for a software that run on top of Solaris, regardless of the H/W (x86/x64/SPARC), there is the SUNWvts package that allows all kinds of testing, including physical memory:

Thanks for your help! I didn't know that memtest86 could work on SPARC as I thought it only worked on x86 architecture. Thanks again.

I never wrote that memtest86 can work on SPARC, in fact I doubt a SPARC version exists.
You question was about memtest for Solaris, not memtest for SPARC ...
Solaris runs on SPARC, x86 and x64, and Linux on dozens of H/W architectures.
