How-to manage a Sun Solaris Server remotely with a Linux W

Sun Solaris Server (without Monitor/KB/Mouse) (sun_svr)
Linux Workstation (linux_ws)

Sun Solaris server, standard install.

On the Linux box type.

1) Add entry to the /etc/hosts file for the IP Address of sun_svr (or setup in DNS)

2) On the Linux Workstation

Linux> xhost+sun_svr
Linux> X -query sun_svr :1

This opens Solaris Greet Screen on your second instance of X on the Linux box (CTL-ALT-F8), you still have the Linux WM on CTL-ALT-F7. If you do the same for another server and use :2 it will appear on CTL-ALT-F9 etc...

Thanks for sharing, just one small typo, you really mean CTL-ALT-F8, not 8.
