Hi !
As you know that mostly GUI of Solaris 9 is not good . So i want to change me color of terminal and do so thing like that . Can we change color of terminal.
Regards.
Sajid.
Well, if you're using xterm you can change the foreground and background colors using xterm options -fg and -bg, or using your .Xresources / .Xdefaults file. Here's an excerpt from my own .Xresources file:
Code:
XTerm.vt100.background: black
XTerm.vt100.boldMode: false
XTerm.vt100.cursorBlink: true
XTerm.vt100.cursorColor: white
XTerm.vt100.font: -dec-terminal-bold-r-normal--14-140-75-75-c-80-iso8859-1
! XTerm.vt100.faceName: "Bitstream Vera Sans Mono"
! XTerm.vt100.faceSize: 10
XTerm.vt100.foreground: white
XTerm.vt100.geometry: 100x40
! XTerm.vt100.rightScrollBar: true
XTerm.vt100.saveLines: 1000
XTerm.vt100.scrollBar: false
To enable these settings, use `xrdb -merge .Xresources`.
If you're using gnome-terminal, there are options available from the menu that let you change what colors it uses for foreground and background.

Hi jilliagre !
thx for previous help. sorry to disturb u for little things but i told u i m new to this solaris world.
can u plz tell me the location of this file $HOME/.Xdefaults
Regards.
The file is called ".Xdefaults" located in your home directory. Type "echo $HOME" at your shell prompt to find out what the absolute path to your home directory is.
It seems like you're really new at working from the CLI, so I'd recommend doing an internet search for some Unix tutorials to work through, so you can get more accustomed to working from the command-line. Such tutorials would be very helpful later on, if you're unfamiliar with Unix.
hi !
i have created file .Xdefaults b4 seeing the msg. i wrote that code u sent me.
i create file .Xdefaults and open it using pico then save it by .Xdefaults . I guess i have to compile or do some thing. Not Sure wat to do.
