how to enable plain text login for imap

hi guys
i trying to setup squirrelmail on my solaris 10
i am amlost done setting it up but wehn i try to login i get this message:
Bad request: The IMAP server is reporting that plain text logins are disabled. Using CRAM-MD5 or DIGEST-MD5 authentication instead may work. Also, the use of TLS may allow SquirrelMail to login. Please contact your system administrator and report this error.

i tried to change to CRAM-MD5 or DIGEST-MD5 authentication methode but seems like my imap does not support none of them.
if u guys could tell me a way i can make imap recognize one of them would be good.
or else if you could tell me how i can activate plain text logins for imap.
thnx

If that is the server, then this can help further :
http://www.squirrelmail.org/wiki/en_US/UWLoginDisabled and
http://www.washington.edu/imap/ to learn more about what your imap server can
and cannot do.

not able to get CRAM-MD5 or DIGEST-MD5 to work on imap

hi guys
i would like to enable CRAM-MD5 or DIGEST-MD5 on imap so i could get squirrelmail ( a webmail) to work normally because right now everytime i try to log on to squirrelmail login screen i get this message:

ad request: The IMAP server is reporting that plain text logins are disabled. Using CRAM-MD5 or DIGEST-MD5 authentication instead may work. Also, the use of TLS may allow SquirrelMail to login. Please contact your system administrator and report this error.

but when i setup CRAM-MD5 or DIGEST-MD5 on the squirrelmail config option it says that my imap doesn't support them. i updated my imap to the latest on sunfreeware imap-2006e.
how can i enable cram-md5 or digest-md5 on my imap?
