jlliagre, Thanks I'll try once more today to get it going, I have linux debian running great and thought that I could handle Solaris, however it doesn't recognize my hardware as good as debian. All the commands and paths I've learn from linux don't all comply with Solaris. I understand that this is a new learning curb. Thanks for the help, Maybe I'll get it up and running.
Please Help me out, I installed Solaris 10 DVD which I received from Sun Microsystems and can't get past command line to boot into GUI desktop with all the help and commands I tried that were directed to me by this forum. I have an MSI mother board and AMD 3200 Sempron CPU on board video my hardware is compatable. I have a similar post below, which has not been responded to in the last day.
Running Linux Debian Etch without any problems, Need Help.
[QUOTE=jlliagre]How are you sure your graphic card is supported ?
Because it is recognized by kdmconfig, It ask me if using 1024x768@70 is alright.
Video onboard nVida Geforce 6100 nforce 405
You got replies to all of your questions. I suggested to use kdmconfig and select Xsun server. Did you try that ?
Yes.
/etc/init.d/dtlogin start ; exit
/etc/init.d/dtlogin start-x
Tried that also. and a few more,
Maybe the dvd isn't good?
I know your all trying and it is appreciated.
Thanks

That probably means your / filesystem is mounted read-only.
What tells:
Code:
svcs -xv
?
Tried "svcs -xv" scrolled now a lot of text and still got same "read only" error message.
What is the command to start GUI?, in linux I use startx and it looks in the .xintrc file and starts,
Does the CLI use the same commands as linux CLI?, Linux is using bash?, It seems as if Solaris doesn't.
Where is the file to start gdm in Solaris,
Would you please give me the directions,
Thanks

Tried once more to use "svcs -xv" command, the bottom line revealed this;
State: uninitialized since May 27 7:08 2007
Reason: Resarter svc:/network/inetd: default is not running
Inpact: dependent service is not running
svc:/system/filesystem/cdfs: default
Can you interrupt this message?
Thank you.

disabled svc:/system/filesystem/local: default
uninitialized /network/rpc/gss: default
" " /application/graphical-login/cde-login
" " /system/coreadm
Can't print them all or copy & paste them all. Does this much help?
