jlliagre, Thanks I'll try once more today to get it going, I have linux debian running great and thought that I could handle Solaris, however it doesn't recognize my hardware as good as debian. All the commands and paths I've learn from linux don't all comply with Solaris. I understand that this is a new learning curb. Thanks for the help, Maybe I'll get it up and running.

How are you sure your graphic card is supported ? You fail to report what it is.

You got replies to all of your questions. I suggested to use kdmconfig and select Xsun server. Did you try that ?

If you need more help, please provide some feedback about how these suggestions work or not.

Interesting, what is the driver Xorg uses with your board under Debian ?

Two final comments:

Opening a new thread is useless so I'm merging that one with the previous one.

Also, please use descriptive thread titles. "Complete Newbie" and "Need Feedback" won't help them to get the exposure they deserve.

Because it is recognized by kdmconfig, It ask me if using 1024x768@70 is alright.

Thanks

There is no reason to suspect the DVD.

When you select Xsun, is the graphic test succeeding ?

You may also want to try the nVidia driver for Solaris, downloadable on the nVidia site.

That probably means your / filesystem is mounted read-only.

What tells:
Code:
svcs -xv
?

Tried "svcs -xv" scrolled now a lot of text and still got same "read only" error message.
What is the command to start GUI?, in linux I use startx and it looks in the .xintrc file and starts,
Does the CLI use the same commands as linux CLI?, Linux is using bash?, It seems as if Solaris doesn't.
Where is the file to start gdm in Solaris,
Would you please give me the directions,
Thanks

Tried once more to use "svcs -xv" command, the bottom line revealed this;

State: uninitialized since May 27 7:08 2007
Reason: Resarter svc:/network/inetd: default is not running
Inpact: dependent service is not running
svc:/system/filesystem/cdfs: default
Can you interrupt this message?
Thank you.

A lot of lines displayed by "svcs -xv" means your system is currently experiencing many problems.

If you can't post the whole "svcs -xv" output, can you at least post what returns "svcs" without options to see what services fail to start.

They are likely a consequence of a single root cause, one of it being the / file-system is mounted read-only.

You won't be able to start X11 without first fixing this issue. Afterwards, X11 will start automatically by default.

disabled svc:/system/filesystem/local: default
uninitialized /network/rpc/gss: default
" " /application/graphical-login/cde-login
" " /system/coreadm
Can't print them all or copy & paste them all. Does this much help?
