$path


This may be a really stupid question, but here goes anyway.

I am trying to edit the PATH, but I cannot find it. Does anyone know where it is. I am using the bash shell, but there isn't .profile or .bash_profile file that I can find.

Thanks for your help.

What do you mean you can't find PATH?

Doing:

echo $PATH

at the command prompt will show you the value.

You can write to the variable, so for example if you want to add /another/directory to path you do:

PATH=$PATH:/another/directory; export PATH

Whooops, sorry, didn't realise this was a Solaris question. I was answering one about Linux

Should make no difference Solaris or Linux they both work the same way.
