TLS certificate not implemented

I’m trying to install Slackware64-current from an https mirror. During the step that downloads packages.txt, I get this error scrolling up the screen:

TLS certificate validation not implemented

Also shows after each package is installed.

I’ve tried this on various https mirrors with the same result. I’ve also updated the Slackware usbboot.img

I’m not sure what the TLS certificate is used for but I suspect it has to do with ensuring the packages have not been modified in any way.

Anyone have any advice on solving this issue?

Thanks,
Sask

May be related to this issue:

IIRC, SSL and TLS are used to verify and encrypt the data connection between the source and the destination.

I saw that one. He was using mirror.slackware.com which may have redirected him to a http mirror rather than a https one. I selected a https mirror site directly. The answer also suggested using the slackbuilds https mirror. I’ve tried that and get the same error messages. Same using any https mirror that I’ve tried, which is 10 to 15 of them so far.

The installer uses busybox. See posts above and below this: https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...ml#post6255863

Thanks Petri, that gives me a better idea of what’s going on. It’s just not going to work. At least not from within the installer for a net install. Fortunately Patrick has released Slackware 15, so I’m now downloading the full install dvd. I’ll burn that and get everything, then updates from a running system will be secure.

Thanks again,
Sask

I tested some URLs and at least http://slackware.uk/ and http://slackware.nl/ are accessible using plain HTTP.
