Qemu USB passthrough with specifics for iphone

Posted 09-05-2018 at 01:39 PM by kingbeowulf

Qemu still befuddles me at times. It doesn't help when various command line options are deprecated and changes. For qemu-3.xx, there have been some changes to setting up USB passthrough. This all all came to a head when I needed to restore an iphone. The powermac G5 is dismantled at the moment, so I thought, why not use the Windows 10 VM? After letting Win10 grind along updating itself (I don't fire it up very often), I installed itunes (win10 has an "app store"? ugh.), the fun began....

ANNOUNCE: Gridcoin-Research now available on Slackbuilds.org

Posted 08-26-2018 at 07:57 PM by kingbeowulf

Gridcoin-Research is now in the SBo pending queue. Gridcoin (GRC) is a cryptocurrency based on bitcoin, but instead of burning up the electrical grid, the GRC awards are based on participation in BOINC scientific computing projects.

Computer algebra systems (CAS) and numerical modelling software

Posted 08-09-2018 at 01:29 PM by kingbeowulf

As many of you know, Slackware ships with a heap of software for the main distribution, but does not have a binary repository like some other distributions for additional. Hence, a volunteer organization: Slackbuilds.org (SBo), as well as others too numerous to mention.

For CAS and numerical calculations, covering a huge range of mathematics, including basic algebra, calculus, elementary to very advanced number theory, cryptography, numerical computation, commutative algebra, group...

Nvidia Slackbuilds.org updates for Slackware 14.2 stock kernel

Posted 05-28-2018 at 07:09 PM by kingbeowulf

Given my recent hectic work schedule, I am drifting behind a bit in my SBo updates. However, I was able to squeeze out a bit of time to update test a the Nvidia-390.59 proprietary drivers for Slackware 14.2 stable kernel 4.4.132 updates. So far so good. I haven't had time to test the multilib compat32 yet (Steam, WINE, etc).

Let me know of any issues, especially with the pure 32-bit Slackware. The only 32-bit Slackware install I have available is a MSI Atom netbook, besides a qemu...
