You should read 'How to Ask Questions the Smart Way' to get a grip on how to present a query. No information provided to aid you other than a 'rt73' & Slackware nor what you have attempted to do.
Your kernel firmware should already contain the 'rt73.bin' file. What does 'lsmod' show? What about 'dmesg', 'ifconfig -a',iwconfig? If the kernel knows the device then what about how you configured the network?
Whoops! I forgot to mention that I use the latest Slackware which I update daily. I usually do. I use the smp kernel, the non-huge, because I like not-loading unnecessary modules.
When I added the Ralink adaptor (which uses rt73usb.ko) iwconfig would manipulate its netid (wlan2) and 'ifconfig -a' would report its existence, but:
I found rt73.bin nowhere in the latest Slackware distribution (I searched MANIFEST.bz2) I found it elsewhere (for an old kernel version), put it in /lib/firmware, and ifconfig could up wlan2, and, apparently, work.
This data would seem to indicate that rt73.bin is necessary.
