Problem using CD to install (Scsi Emulated IDE Device)

Hi,
I'm having problems installing Slack 10.2 onto a Fujitsu Laptop. Main issue is around the fact that the CDROM is connected via a PCMCIA card - and not just a simple onboard IDE device.
I can't find any of the bootdisks that will recognise the device (even with PCMCIA.DSK loaded).

I have managed to put a very small install of 10.2 (just the A packages) onto the machine using an existing windows98 partition - and when I boot from this 10.2 I can see the CDROM as /dev/hdc - looks like it is using a SCSI controller emulating the IDE interface (scsi0 reports active).
I can't do a full install like this, purely because of the way the disk is organised - I need to clean it up and remove windows completely - but without windows I cannot access the CDROM.

SO - given that the answer is to load the Scsi<-->IDE emulated drivers - question is "HOW do I do that for the floppy disk boot install????"

all answers gratefully received,

TIA,

M.

If you have another computer available, you might have an easier time doing a network install.

Yes - that did cross my mind - small trouble - yup you've guessed it - the network card is put into the PCMICA slot !
That is worth trying though - I'll see if I can dig an old PCMCIA card out and see if it responds.

cheers

Well, another possibility might be to install from a USB key, if you have USB available.

Good suggestion - but not needed now - THANK YOU - your original suggestion of using an NFS install has worked a treat !
Got rid of the Windoze partition completely - and now sitting with a very nice Slack 10.2, just getting it configured nicely.

Once again, thanks for replying and pointing me in the right direction.

cheers
M.
