New install won't boot

I just installed 10.2 onto an 80GB IDE drive (running a Sempron 64 2800 on a Biostar TForce 6100 mobo if it matters). I used the sata.i kernel because I have a 400GB sata drive also installed for storage. To keep it simple I just made 2 partitions on the 80GB, a root and a swap. Both times I tried to install I had lilo install on the MBR. However, during the initial reboot after installation my computer just hangs after it POSTs. It works fine when I use the install CD as a boot CD so I am guessing something with lilo is not correct. Any ideas? Thanks.

Matt

PS. This is a fresh install on a clean hard drive that will be single boot into Slack.

What does your /etc/lilo.conf file look like?

Have you tried using GRUB instead of LILO?

Hi,

Did you check the mdsum for the iso if you did a download?

Please post your lilo.conf file.

When you use your boot cd you can do one test, what happens when you do as root;

Code:
#lilo -v -t -b /dev/hda             #change device to your's
                                    #this will test lilo.conf
                                    #no boot write, post errors

#lilo -v -b /dev/hda                #write mbr to /dev/hda
