This is sort of a stupid question, but i post it here as a residual ignorance ( call it doubt ) reliever... :

Suppose i make an expert slackware slimmish desktop install :

Only base system, X, and network.

Ok, i can do basically nothing with this system, except building new packages whose slackbuilds i have fetched from the web... therefore, i would build my system around this barebone...

But I think this is not possible... because the slackbuilds refer to a standard install of slackware... so, the minimal install is just that... something frozen, because Slackware has no way to figure out what is needed to run a slackbuils...

Well, you need the development tools (in /d) to attempt to build most SlackBuilds.

From then on, you would try to build the SlackBuild. Then if you get error messages, you would check them against the MANIFEST file (which lists each file installed in each package) to see which other packages you need to install.
