open a terminal type su to get root password prompt and when it goes to root mode type "sndconfig" and assuming you have it loaded, you may have it on a cd, it should detect and config your sound

change your bios to turn off plug and play devices, so that the kernel has to figure it out.
then you need to insert the correct module, if sndconfig fails try looking at info at
www.alsa-project.org for alsa sound.
I don't have rh but mdk used to be similar.
