intel motherboard 865 chipset inbuilt soundcard not detected !HELP

I am facing problem in detecting soundcard in INTEL 865 chipset board.
I have installed RED Hat linux 9.

how to detect the sound card

run tools under X-Window by graphic mode.
system tools->audio card??? i am not sure.

i tried kudzu but it didn't detect soundcard
and while using the soudcard detection from the GUi it says sound card not detected

try 1
open a terminal type su to get root password prompt and when it goes to root mode type "sndconfig" and assuming you have it loaded, you may have it on a cd, it should detect and config your sound

try 2
change your bios to turn off plug and play devices, so that the kernel has to figure it out.

then you need to insert the correct module, if sndconfig fails try looking at info at www.alsa-project.org for alsa sound.

I don't have rh but mdk used to be similar.
