DGE-530T Driver

I just bought a new D-link Gigabit PCI Adapter for my new Slacware 11 installation and I see that it can't find it or rather there are no drivers for it.

Does anyone know how I can get and install the necessary drivers for this ethernet card?

Drivers for DGE-530T Ethernet Card..

Well I went looking for the appropriate driver(s) for this ethernet card and I did find one. I untarred it and ran the 'make all' command and then when I ran 'insmod sk98lin.o I found problems.

It seems that the device cannot be found? My log reports "....incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters"..

What does this mean? I mean the IO or IRQ parameters?

Hmmmm. This is getting complicated..

Slackware 11.0 2.4.33.3 kernel has the sk98lin driver already, there should be no need to download and install this separately.
The Slackware 11.0 2.6.17.13 kernel has the same sk98lin driver, but also the "skge" driver which is supposed to support your card better. Why don't you try to install the 2.6.17.13 kernel-generic plus kernel-modules packages from the Slackware 11.0 "/extra" directory and see if it works better that way?

Hi,

To find out what the base information is for your card, do as root from the cli (command line interface);

Code:
dmesg |grep eth #what was recognized at boot
lspci -vv #get from hardware information
You should find the I/O and IRQ information for the device. Then pass this to the kernel. You can look at the ether HOWTO at TLDP to learn how.

I think the proper module would be 'skge' for the 3c940 NIC. Check the HCL (Linux Hardware Compatibility List) on LQ for your device.
